A lovely review by Andrew Macmillen of The Russian Soul: Selections from A Writer’s Diary appearing in the Winter 2018 edition of The Forum (the magazine of The Scotland-Russia Forum).

Many of the themes that Dostoevsky was writing about in imperial Russia of 140 years ago can seem extraordinarily contemporary. In My Paradox he tackles Russia’s place in the world and her relations with Europe and Turkey and even the problem of deforestation. Dostoevsky shines a light on the almost ritualistic abuse of women and his style of engaging in dialogue with his readers is almost akin to that of today’s bloggers.
